My soon to be new toy Posted by Picasa

Meet my little fren...

So, after wringing my hands about which DAP to buy and striking out on getting the one I had chosen just the day before because it was out of stock, Apple does me the favor of releasing the new iPod the next day.

So, figuring it was serendipity, I ponied up the cash and ordered a 60 gig black iPod last night.

I figured that since AshLee had a black iPod Nano, I would keep some family consistency.

The order confirmation from the Apple Store said it will ship on/or before Oct. 21, so it will probably get here when I've already left for eight days in the mountains elk hunting... Just my luck...

After the flood

My friend that lives down in New Orleans finally was able to return to his house, which had varying depths of water in it, with a couple of feet of flooding upstairs and deeper deluge in the basement.

A layer of mold and grime covered most of the things in the house -- especially what was below the waterline. He is optomistic about getting everything cleaned up and moving back in but he lost quite a bit of stuff to the water.

He posted some pictures of his house and stuff -- some of his music gear survived, some didn't, it's pretty clear in the pictures which pieces are definitely ruined.

In addition to the heartache of being displaced and losing stuff, he also had to endure the loss of one of his close musician friends, Edward "Sheeba" Kimbrough, who died a couple days ago from complications from pneumonia and other ailments, exacerbated by riding out the hurricane and wading out of the city.

"Sheebie" was one of New Orleans' funkiest drummers and can be heard on some Professor Longhair recordings.

In your free moments when you are feeling lucky, take a second and send some mojo south to New Orleans via the synchronicity route...
